Community Work
In addition to taking in pregnant cats and abandoned kittens from the community and animal management facilities and finding them permanent homes, Robin’s Nest does other work in the community. Those efforts include the following:
Community Temporary Foster Program
This is a program we put in place for the community to offer them an option if we are at capacity and cannot intake their pregnant cat, mama with babies or kittens at the moment. We sign them up as Temporary Robin’s Nest Fosters. They foster the kittens under our care. We provide deworming, parasite prevention, their vaccines, any veterinary care and in some cases kitten food while the kittens continue to live at a home they are familiar with. The kittens are less stressed and we are overseeing their ongoing care. Once one of our Robin’s Nest fosters is available, we will intake the assignment. At that point, the kittens are surrendered to Robin’s Nest and we continue their care, final vetting and eventual placement in one of our partner stores so that they can be adopted.
