Become a Foster!
While it may be more convenient to house cats in cages in a facility, we believe that cats have a better quality of life and are more likely to fit eventually into a forever home if they are kept in a home environment with a foster caregiver and given lots of attention and handling. Also, with young kittens and mama cats, they are less likely to be exposed to illnesses in a home environment.
As a foster, you can:
What’s Involved in Fostering?
We will give you lots of support to be a foster for us, including a care plan for your foster cat, periodic visits with a Robin’s Nest volunteer for routine treatments like vaccinations, a supply of food, phone support if unexpected questions arise and an expected date for the foster cat to be placed in one of our partner stores for adoption. You help us by providing the cat with a litter box and litter, water, shelter and lots of love and attention. We will also ask you to meet our volunteers periodically with your foster cats for routine checkups and procedures and to deliver your foster cats to a local clinic for a spay/neuter appointment. If you live in Indianapolis or a surrounding county, are at least 21 years old (or a teenager with parental supervision) and have reliable transportation, fill out an application today to get started!
